My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a feline friend who's more of a lover than a fighter? Meet Bowie, the black cat with a heart of gold and a purr that could rival a motor engine. This affectionate boy is ready to cuddle up next to you on the couch and shower you with love, as long as you don't try to pick him up (he's a bit of an independent soul, you see).
Bowie's idea of a perfect date involves batting around toy mice and pompoms. He'll even bring them to you as a gift, because that's just the kind of thoughtful gentleman he is. Don't expect a lot of meowing from this guy, he prefers to let his purr do the talking. And trust us, it's a conversation you won't want to miss.
If you're seeking a companion who's more about quality time than acrobatic feats, Bowie might be your perfect match. He's happy to keep your feet warm at night and provide a soothing soundtrack of purrs to lull you to sleep. Just be prepared to be the big spoon and have a steady supply of pompoms on hand. If you think you can handle the rumbling purrs and showering of gifts, come meet Bowie and let him steal your heart.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
