My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Smokey was surrendered to the shelter after he was rehomed by his owner. He had a little more health issues going on than they felt they could care for. Smokey doesn't have much hair from being covered in fleas and being yeasty/dirty. He is a senior dog that is around 12 years old. His health exam went well for a older dog. His heart and teeth are good. We just have to get his skin and hair on the mend now. He is a typical chihuahua so he can be real scared at first but once he warms up to you he is very much a lap dog. He loves to follow you around and beg for snacks. Smokey is looking for a new forever home where he can curl up in his blanket and live out his golden years. Neutered and up to date.

More about this shelter

Our shelter is staffed by only a few employees so we greatly depend on volunteers to help care for our animals.
We work very closely with rescue groups to help move our dogs out of the shelter quickly. Our goal is to never have to euthanize for space. We cannot do that without rescue assistance because our adoption rates are very low.
