My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

Date into Rescue:11/5/24
Reason for being in rescue: Stray
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Sully is neutered, up to date on vaccine and heartworm negative. On 11/14/24 he had a dental polishing. Sully was found as a stray so we have no background on him. Our best guess is that he is a labradoodle, though only a DNA test will confirm. We will never guarantee that a doodle is hypoallergenic or that they won't shed.
Weight: 52 lbs
Height: 24 in
Spayed/Neutered: No

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? Yes, Sully requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.

What kind of home would be best for me? Sully is a sweet, loving dog who’s searching for his forever home—and he’s ready to be your loyal companion! Whether you're a single person, a couple, or a family, Sully will fit right in. A family may need to have older children due to his tendency to jump up for affectionate hugs. Sully absolutely adores head scratches, cuddles, and would love nothing more than to be your snuggle buddy on the couch.

Sully will thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard where he can run, play, and enjoy some outdoor fun with you or another dog. He doesn’t require intense exercise but loves having playtime to keep his mind and body healthy. Sully is good with dogs of all sizes. His best friend here at the farm has been a 15 lb shih tzu mix named Mike.  He hasn’t been introduced to cats yet, but given his calm demeanor, we think he could adapt well in a cat-friendly home, provided they’re a good match.

What is my personality like? Sully is a gentle, affectionate dog who is good with all other dogs, although it may take him a little time to get comfortable with new canine friends. He’s not aggressive in the slightest and has a laid-back, easygoing personality. While Sully hasn’t been tested with cats yet, his calm demeanor suggests he would do well in a household with a cat that is open to him.

While Sully isn’t particularly interested in toys, he has a serious love for treats, which will come in handy for his ongoing training. He’s will need to work on basic commands like sit, down, come, and stay, and with some positive reinforcement, he’ll be a quick learner! He may need a bit of leash training as well, but with patience, treats, and praise, Sully will catch on in no time.

Sully has formed a strong bond with his canine buddy, Mike, here at CPR. They’re inseparable, and we’re keeping a close eye on their relationship to determine if they should be adopted together as a bonded pair. Sully gets along well with other dogs, although he may need some time to warm up to new canine friends.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Sully is a social, people-loving dog who enjoys spending time with anyone who’ll give him attention! Whether it's playing, getting head scratches, or cuddling up for some quality time, Sully will happily accept all the love you have to offer.

Other tips and tidbits: Sully was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition, we've estimated he's 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday 11/5/2020.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
