My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peach PIT!  Not only is she cute, but she also has the solution to all of your holiday conundrums.

Need a PLUS 1 to ward off all the awkward "why are you still single questions?"-PEACH PIT

Tasked with bringing the holiday ham? -PEACH PIT

Want a HIPPOPOTAMUS for Christmas?-PEACH PIT

Run out of dinner ROLLS?-PEACH PIT

Need someone to sit between Uncle Lewis and Aunt Bethany at dinner?-PEACH PIT

Want a bestie to binge-watch Hallmark Christmas movies?Peachy is bringing the PUPcorn.

Do you need an accountability partner for your holiday diet? Ok, we're not gonna lie. Peachy isn't going to help you with this one unless you need help snackin' and nappin'.

Peach Pit smells like the sweetest bouquet of Roses, you can't help but want to sit next to her and her favorite place to be is right next to you!

Expect to see her badonkadonk swing and near-perfect waddle on the runways in Paris next year, it's that GOOD.

Peachy's biggest flex is her outgoing personality, she's the opposite of Regina George.  We like to think of her as the Richard Simmons on Sweatin' to the Olides of dogs.  She would love to show you her Deal A Meal cards she wants to show everyone!  She loves every human of every age and will be your IMMEDIATE, GLUE STICK BEST FRIEND.

If you are looking for a human and dog-loving, once-in-a-lifetime BFF, Peach Pit is the blue-ribbon winner, it doesn't get better than this pork roll with a side of a side of sass.

Peach Pit is a special dog.  She is 6 years old and weighs 36 lbs. She is available for adoption at houndsinpounds.org

Our adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Additional adoption info

Our mission is to find the best possible homes for the animals in our care. Many of them have been through severe hardship, mistreatment or neglect, and that makes it even more important that we do our best for them. This means that we have to have guidelines because not every adopter is right for every animal. We try to do right by every person who comes our way looking for a new family pet. But sometimes we have to say “no” to a potential adopter. Our animals do not have a say in where they go; since we speak for those who have no voice, we must do it well. Our rejection of an adoption application is no reflection on the adopter. Everyone who wants to adopt an animal from a shelter or rescue group is special because they open their homes to those in need. But, while we try to meet the needs of everyone, our clients are the animals. They have no one else. We appreciate your understanding.

More about this rescue

The mission of Hounds in Pounds (HIP), is to end the daily killing of thousands of adoptable dogs in the United States. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New Jersey and Georgia and we rely 100% on donations.

HIP has a multi-faceted approach to achieving our mission, combining rescue, adoption, spay/neuter outreach and public education. Dogs rescued by Hounds in Pounds are transported to private veterinarians for proper medical treatment, where they are vetted, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and tested for heartworm before being placed into new, loving homes. We work as a team, communicating from sunrise to sundown to manage the many moving pieces that make our work successful.

Each dog we pull to safety is a member of our family and is treated with the utmost love and respect. We are a lifeline for thousands of dogs that otherwise wouldn’t stand a chance. Many of the dogs we rescue are cases that no one else will take, as our motto at HIP is to “never say never”. To be clear, we are working for them. These dogs are our heroes, and we look to them for hope, inspiration and sometimes the strength to keep going. We also consider our followers, donors, adopters, rescue partners and the rescue community a direct extension of our team. Without each of these moving parts, Hounds in Pounds wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

As one can imagine, the costs associated with running an operation of this magnitude are extraordinary. We fulfill our mission by collaborating with local shelters, veterinarians, boarding facilities, transporters, and local businesses, and through the generosity of donors and supporters. It is thanks to our dedicated volunteers and the benevolent donations of our HIP family of supporters that any of this is possible.
