My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Beautiful pup looking for forever home!

PIPER CHAPMAN NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Piper Chapman        Best Guess for Breed:   Shepherd/Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:   4 years old        SEX:  female

Approximate Weight: 47lbs

Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen Piper with cats or children, but she can be tested.

Currently Living at:  SC Rescue Campus

Special adoption considerations: Piper Chapman is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!

Piper Chapman is Looking For:   Her forever home! This sweet girl needs a new home through no fault of her own. She's eager to once again have her own humans! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on her wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days.

She's in her prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into her new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty she is storing up for her new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?

What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update once she has spent time in a foster home!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
