PIPER CHAPMAN NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Piper Chapman Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/Lab mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 years old SEX: female
Approximate Weight: 45lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen Piper with cats or children, but she can be tested.
Currently Living at: SC Rescue Campus
Special adoption considerations: Piper Chapman is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Piper Chapman is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet girl needs a new home through no fault of her own. She's eager to once again have her own humans! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on her wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days.
She's in her prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into her new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty she is storing up for her new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update once she has spent time in a foster home!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
