Skinner NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Skinner Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/Terrier
Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of October 2024 Gender: male
Approximate Weight: 60 lbs.
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested.
Currently Living At: South Carolina SHELTER. He needs a foster or forever home.
Adoption Considerations: Skinner is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Skinner is Looking For: A loving home where he can be part of the family. He’s ready to give his love in exchange for long sniffy walks, frequent dog park visits, and belly rubs. Can’t you see this handsome guy snuggling by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon!
