Webster is what we like to call a "caretaker" - he is ALWAYS found lounging with another cat and it doesn't matter if they are new to our rescue or an old-time friend. He takes care of them all! He's also a cat's cat, preferring to be with his own kind rather than us humans. He likes us, just prefers other cats.
Webster came to us back in 2021 after a kind person noticed he was wandering around with injuries and intervened. His injuries appeared consistent with attack type wounds so as soon as we could, we tested him for diseases and sadly, he came up positive for FIV. Did he have this prior to his injuries we do not know but it is certainly likely that the attack transferred the disease to him. After a few weeks of healing, close observation, and talks with out veterinarian, we made the determination that he was not a treat to any of our current rescues and we introduced him to the other cats in his designated room. His behaviors proved us correct - he was not a cat that was in danger of harming others or transferring his disease. In fact, he was just the opposite - a gentle caretaker.
Webster has been with us for a few years now as many looking to adopt a cat are not interested in a cat with FIV and those that have been, have selected other FIV+ cats. (Known fact: cats with FIV are not a threat or concern to other cats unless they are aggressive biters, which Webster is not.) There are many articles and published veterinary reports regarding cats with FIV readily available on the internet - do a little research and you will see, Webster is adoptable with very little chance of him transferring his disease if placed in the right environment - that being one where there are either no current cats in the home or, cats in the home that are non-aggressive.
As mentioned, Webster is a cat's cat - he prefers the company of other cats rather than us humans. While he is accepting of our touch and doesn't mind some attention, he's not a cat that will come looking for it. If you've got a home and a heart that is ideal for Webster, let's talk. We would be more than happy to answer any additional questions you may have regarding his personality or other environmental, dietary and supplemental needs. Note: With a cat with FIV, it is imperative that regular check-ups with a veterinarian are done (at least annually) and that a good, healthy diet is provided. We do provide our FIV+ cats with immunity boosting supplements and recommend that these be continued for optimum health (and cost is reasonable!).
While Webster is great with other cats, we can't be certain how he will do with dogs as he has not been exposed to them at length and has really only seen them via our outdoor catio and on those occasions, it's been from a distance.
We also do not think Webster would do well in a home with children as we do know he does prefer a quieter environment.
Webster has an approx. DOB of 12/19/2016.

More about this rescue
Established in 2003, we are a no-kill rescue/re-home program that takes in abandoned, homeless and unwanted animals. We work tirelessly to find new, permanent homes for our rescues. Our program's Director began this journey when our county's humane society was closed down.
A note from our Director:
"I have been a lifelong rescuer; all of my pets (currently, 10 dogs and 5 cats) are rescue animals. They mean the world to me and I want to help as many animals as I can while I am on this earth. Back in 2003, I gathered together many animal lovers in the area and we started our rescue efforts; we've continued to grow over time and are now operating as a 501c3 organization, which has helped us strengthen our efforts to save the animals. We want to see that no animal goes without love, shelter, food or a happy life. We work on educating the public about the overpopulation problem, we promote spay/neuter programs, and we do group tours at our facility to teach about the rescue re-home world. To get our youth community involved, we visit schools to teach about responsible pet ownership, animal abuse and neglect, and what they as an animal advocate can do to help prevent these tragedies. We are proud of what we do here at our rescue and we believe it is our job to protect those that speak another language and quite honestly, we just could not imagine a world without them. I invite you to join our efforts by becoming a sustainable monthly donor, a volunteer with our program or, simply to be another voice for the animals. Contact us today to find out how you can help."
