My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Hitch and I came to MVPC with eye issues. Lucky for me MVPC loves helping nice dogs who just need a bit of medical attention to get healthy. I had to have my left eye removed due to glaucoma and I am blind in my right eye! Blind dogs are great dogs, but they can linger in the shelter, so I am SO glad they got me out of there!! My other senses - smell and hearing - are pretty strong so I get around really well. I learned the property at my foster home inside and out within 2 days!

Despite being blind I am just a sweet and happy guy. I am cat and dog friendly and was a favorite at the shelter. I do good in my crate and love toys. I have alot of energy but I also like to kick back and relax. I do like to be close to my people and I'm working on my manners.

Because it takes me awhile to figure out where things are, I need a family who will be patient, structured and will allow me to acclimate using voice and smell.

Please don’t let my disability prevent you from adopting me! Blind dogs get around just fine in the big world with just a little help from their friends.

ADOPTION FEE: $300 (All MVPC dogs are heartworm-tested and on prevention, completely vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, crate-trained and house-trained)

INQUIRIES: ALL inquiries begin with a submitted adoption application, which is found on our website, www.miamivalleypitcrew.com. We do not adopt to individuals under the age of 25.

DO NOT: USE THE PETFINDER CONTACT/ADOPT BUTTONS--we are unable to monitor those and you will not receive a response.

PLEASE NOTE: We are volunteer based and a home visit is required; we have a two-hour adoption radius from Kettering, OH for our adult dogs and 75 miles for our puppies. Exceptions for our ADULT dogs only, though rare, may be made on a case-by-case basis but we must be able to do a home visit. Thank you for your understanding!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are $250 for adult dogs, and $350 for puppies 5mo and under. Adoption fees may be more or less depending on breed, special needs, etc. This covers all vetting and allows us to take on hard cases.

It all starts with an application.

http://www.miamivalleypitcrew.com

Our dogs are listed until an adopter is approved and a hold fee is received. Please submit an application for approval FIRST. You will receive a "received" auto response with further information. We do not adopt out littermates together. We are a 100% foster-based, volunteer rescue so we are not able to respond to every inquiry about a dog (though we try) and we will respond to a request for an application or if one is submitted through our website. Please allow 72 hours for us to respond, and please check your spam/junk mail folder first, then send us an email if you believe we have not responded! Since we are foster-based, we have no centralized facility to visit. All of our dogs live in private homes as members of their respective foster families.

We require a physical fence for most dogs.

Once approved, we bring the dog to your home for a home visit. If all goes well at the home visit, the adoption is completed at that time.

Mission

To cultivate an understanding of the American Pit Bull Terrier through positive education and example and change the misinformed minds of society one dog at a time!

Nonprofit Overview

The Miami Valley Pit Crew (MVPC) rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a network of volunteer foster homes dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected, and misunderstood dogs and puppies. While we are an all breed rescue, we specialize in "bully breeds" and other strong working breeds: Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, German Shepherds and any mixes of the aforementioned. We pull dogs from the country's overcrowded shelters. We also educate owners and the public on bully breeds and Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). We specialize in dogs, but respect all living creatures and encourage others to do the same by education.

The MVPC evaluates each potential rescue request to determine the dogs re-homing probability. Our goal is to adopt out family dogs and ambassadors of their breed.
