Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617
Behavior Profile Color(s): Brown/Blue Brown— Independent, prefers to do their own thing. Blue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.
Could he do well with kids? Yes, with children 12 years and older.
Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.
Has this dog lived with cats? No. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]
---
Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Brute is a somewhat independent dog who tends to be cautious around new people and takes his time to build trust. Initially, he appeared slightly intimidated when coming out of his kennel, but he was eager for the opportunity. Brute would benefit from some guidance on leash manners, and it`s essential to focus on developing a solid relationship with him before attempting a lot of handling. At first, he was quite skittish with physical contact, but after some playtime, he started to warm up and showed affection by rubbing against me, eventually allowing me to pet his hip and back legs. While he may not always be comfortable with close interactions, it’s clear that when he feels secure in a relationship, he becomes more relaxed. Brute is open to learning and is receptive to direction, which bodes well for his development.
