My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This 2-year-old Beagle is the sweetest and spunkiest of dogs! Weighing in at 22 pounds, he’s the perfect size for cuddles—and cuddling just happens to be one of his favorite activities. While his past has made him more anxious and sometimes overstimulated, he shows his bravery and resilience in new ways every day. In no time, Ringo will happily follow you around the house, and be your favorite snuggle buddy at night, making every night cozy and warm.

With some patience and guidance, he’s made remarkable progress and become a great roommate! While he’s house-trained on a consistent schedule, his pacing around the room will be your cue to go outside. If you're home, he may go into his kennel for a safe space, or when you say “take a nap” (especially if there’s a treat involved)! When he's alone, he can be very vocal and unsettled in the kennel. Due to his noise level during these times, he will not be a fit for homes with shared walls (apartments/condos).

This little explorer thrives with structure and enjoys mental and physical stimulation. Ringo loves to go on walks (30-45 minutes) where he can sniff to his heart's content, along with food puzzles to entertain his Beagle nose. Ringo is eager to learn with you, too! He’s working on commands like “sit” and “touch,” treating every session like the most fun game ever.

When it comes to his favorite things, Ringo’s love for squeaky toys knows no bounds—his hedgehog stuffy is a prized possession. He’s also an expert in the fine art of destroying stuffed toys but enjoys chew toys, kongs, and even a good antler. Ringo’s playful spirit is matched only by his need for cuddles. He’ll give you endless kisses, follow you everywhere, and look at you with those soulful Beagle eyes that make it impossible to say no.

Ringo is happy to make friends, but it takes a little extra bravery to do so. He has met children as young as 6 years-old and adored them, though he is still learning personal space. Because of this, dog-savvy kids aged 8+ would be the best match. He has briefly met his foster family's cat, but quickly retreated. With the right introduction, he could likely coexist peacefully with a confident, relaxed cat. Around other dogs, Ringo does best with calm or well-balanced companions, as big personalities can make him nervous. He finds comfort in the presence of another dog and could benefit from a home where his human or canine companions are often around.

Ringo would thrive in a patient, loving home that understands his puppy-like curiosity and gives him the structure he needs to blossom. In return, you'll receive a lifetime of laughter and endless kisses! Could you be the one to give this brave, spunky, and snuggly pup his forever home?

The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
