My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Floyd. Floyd recently came to us as a stray and appears to have been on his own for some time. He wasn't feeling great when he came in, but already has improved so much. He does have some broken teeth and is awaiting dental surgery, but would love to find a "foster-to-adopt" home while he waits. This means he could spend time in his forever home prior to surgery and as he heals - then when he gets the green light from the vet that he is all healed up, he could be officially adopted.

Floyd loves to be loved. He is a total lap cat and will take all the attention you're willing to give him. You can often find Floyd standing in the door and meowing at any passerbys to try and coax them into his room for a visit.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
