Hot Pocket went on a doggie day out adventure on 11/27, here is what her volunteer had to say:
`I had a great day hanging out with Hot Pocket. We started with some play time in the yard. She took a minute to explore and followed that up with a couple laps running the perimeter which she seemed to really enjoy. She is a very fast dog. Once she was played out on her own, I played fetch for a good hour, and then went inside and played with a stuffed toy. I offered her a peanut butter kong, which she had a little of, but lost interest quickly. She liked small treats(like training treats) but was less interested in larger dog biscuits. After that i had to do some work for a bit. She came and sat on the floor next to my desk chair and played quietly with her stuffed toy for a bit. Then took a long nap(couple hours ) She was so quiet, I didn’t even realize she was right there the whole time. After nap time we played with the tennis ball in the yard some more, and took a walk around the block. We finished up the day with a pup-cup on the way back. I wasn’t sure if she would care for the pupcup given her disinterest in the kong and treats, but boy, was I wrong. Her eyes lit up as soon as we pulled into the drivethru line, and clearly knew the drill. She was very focused on the attendant and knew which cup was for her as soon as it was handed to me. Again she was very gentle taking the cup, she very thoroughly finished the entire thing, and seemed very appreciative.`
She went on another doggie day out adventure on 12/14: First we got a pup cup from Dutch Bros, followed by a trip to the local feed store for a warm bath in their doggie bathing area, then we went back home for a few hours where she mostly had a nap on the couch. When she needed to go potty or wanted water, she whined a bit, but went right out to do her business. Once the weather cleared, we went out to the UV Davis Arboretum for a walk. We went a little over 3 miles and she did great on the leash with minimal redirection needed. She was unphased by hikes that went by us and wanted to make friends with everyone. The other dogs she encountered she was curious and seemed to want to play.
