Looking for the perfect little lap dog? Well look no further! My name is Canela and I am an adorable little reddish-brown senior who is searching for the perfect lap. I am a friendly little girl who loves everyone I meet. I am currently staying in an office with other small dogs and we all get along fine. And I am a favorite with the staff here! I like going on walks and have excellent leash manners. And even though I am a little older, I still have plenty of pep in my step. I recently visited a local senior center and I was a big hit with the residents. I am a very loving dog who enjoys cuddling. I am going to make an excellent couch buddy! So if you are in the market for a pint-sized companion who will always be there for you, you really can't go wrong with me.

Operating the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility and Alexandria’s only animal shelter, the League provides care for more than 3,500 animals every year, including strays, lost pets, local wildlife, rescue animals, and pets surrendered by their owners. Serving the community since 1946, the League has contracted with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, and sheltering services since 1989.
