My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🏹 Katniss: The Survivor with a Heart of Gold 🏹

Hail the valiant, hail the mighty! I am Katniss, not just a survivor, but a triumphant tale of tenderness and tenacity. My formidable presence is matched by my considerable size, a sturdy 16 pounds that carry a spirit as indomitable as the heroine whose name I bear.

🌞 Sunbeam Victor: Like the girl on fire, I revel in the warmth of the sun's embrace, finding solace in its rays, rejuvenating my soul and basking in the glow of tranquility.

🌿 Nip Enthusiast: Offer me the verdant delight of fresh catnip, and you'll see a softer side to my otherwise regal bearing—a reminder that even the bravest hearts need a moment of blissful reprieve.

💤 Champion of Naps: My love for long, serene naps is known far and wide. Wrapped in the embrace of fleece blankets, I find my peace, away from the tumult of the world outside.

🤗 The Embrace of Affection: I am fiercely affectionate, demanding belly rubs as my due, offering purrs and nudges in return—a queen demanding her tribute, yet generous in her reign.

🐾 Social Tribute: In the company of humans, my outgoing and social nature shines through. I am as loyal as they come, charming and sassy, a true companion in every sense of the word.

🏠 District of the Heart: Found wandering the wilderness, then sheltered in the confines of a work building, I've known the shifting landscapes of home. I've adapted to environments as challenging as any arena, yet through it all, my heart remains open and ready for the love of a true family.

🔥 Theme of the Games: My story is one of resilience, a testament to the strength of character that has seen me through the years. Now, I seek a new district, one filled with the love and stability I so deeply desire.

Will you be the one to ally with me, to offer a forever home where I can reign not in combat, but in comfort? Together, we will write a story of victory, not just in games, but in love.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
