My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chesty!
Chesty is a stunning American Bully mix with a gorgeous merle coat that’s sure to turn heads! This sweet, gentle guy came to us with Lottie and her pup, Buddy, and has quickly become a shelter favorite. Chesty is already neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and ready to settle into his forever home. With his easygoing nature and warm heart, he’s a perfect fit for anyone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. Chesty can’t wait to bring his unique beauty and charm to a family who will love him as much as he loves them!An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
