My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sundae: The Sweetest Reward 🍨
A mostly black tortoiseshell with a soft, speckled coat that matches her gentle spirit.
I'm affectionate and cuddly, but you have to go slow with me. I'm a gentle soul who loves peace and quiet. I might be a bit timid at first, but once I trust you, I’ll show you just how charming and sensitive I can be.
I adore long naps, especially when I know you're nearby. I treasure the comfort of enclosed spaces where I can feel safe. Treats are always welcome, and I live for those peaceful moments where it’s just you and me.
I was found as a stray, doing my best to take care of my kittens. Now that they've all found homes, it's finally my turn to be pampered. This momma is ready for a forever home where I can relax and be spoiled like I deserve.
Sundae is ready to find a home where she can finally be the center of attention. Could that be with you?An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
