My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cyrus is a loyal, 2-3-year-old pup looking for a loving home after being left behind when his family moved.

Cyrus is protective by nature, making him an excellent choice for someone looking for a devoted and watchful friend. Though he takes a bit of time to warm up, once he does, you’ll see just how loving and affectionate he can be. He’s looking for a family that understands his need for a little extra time and love.

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sweet boy and show him what true forever love feels like, Cyrus would be grateful to join your family. Reach out today to meet this special guy!An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
