Meet Shavonne!

Shavonne is a sweet and thoughtful 5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart full of love to give. She came to APA! from a shelter partner where she was at risk of euthanasia due to space limitations. Now, she’s ready to find her forever home and share her joy with a lucky family!

Shavonne is an affectionate cuddle bug who adores being close to her people—she’ll happily climb into your lap if you let her! Though a bit nervous at first, she warms up quickly and has already made new friends at APA. Shavonne is also a quick learner who’s improving her leash skills and enjoys checking in with her handler during walks.

Eligible for our Dog Day Out program, Shavonne loves exploring new places, strolling through the neighborhood, and spending quality time with her humans. She’s polite on leash, great with passing cars, and non-reactive to people from a distance.

Shavonne would thrive in a home without cats but has lived peacefully with male cats in the past. She’ll do best with a family that can give her plenty of love, attention, and opportunities for outdoor adventures.

Step one:
Browse our available animals online. Our website has more details on every animal, including any known history with dogs, cats, and kids, as well as individual adoption fees. Visit https://www.austinpetsalive.org/adopt

Step two:
Using the provided contact form here or on the APA! website, you can send an inquiry on the animal(s) you are interested in.

Step three:
Our adoption team will connect you to the foster home or someone at the shelter location where the animal is currently living to learn more about the animal and potentially set up a visit!

Step four:
After meeting the animal you would like to adopt, instructions for completing the adoption paperwork, scheduling an appointment, and picking up your new family member will be shared with you!
