My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maximus is a 1.5-year-old Shepherd/Pyrenees mix who weighs about 55 lbs. His favorite things are squeaky toys, food, and chewing on bones. He gets along well with other dogs once he feels comfortable with them, he just needs a little time to warm up! He has been working on gaining confidence, and having a dog buddy in his new house may help him continue in his quest for bravery. He isn't a fan of loud noises or sudden movements, so he probably wouldn't do well in a home with young kids. Maximus can be quite timid when meeting new people, and will need some patience while getting used to unfamiliar situations. Despite his hesitation with new things, his tail is ALWAYS wagging! He is crate trained and is working on house training. Max would love to do some basic training with you, he is very eager to learn and is VERY treat motivated! He may need a little patience while getting used to a new home, but if you give him time to come out of his shell, you will become his whole world and he won't leave your side!

To meet Maximus, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationNovember 21, 2024, 6:08 am

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
