My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Queen of Dragons to the Queen of your Heart!

Hello there, humans! I’m Khaleesi - a 2-year-old, 45 lb Husky mix with a regal spirit and a heart of gold. My journey hasn’t been easy, from being rescued in the desert near Salton City to having my hind leg amputated, but I’ve risen stronger than ever! I’m ready to rule my furever home with love, loyalty, and plenty of tail wags.

After surviving under a desert bush in blistering heat, I’ve embraced my destiny as a mighty tripod. Missing a leg hasn’t slowed me down - I still chase after adventures like the true Khaleesi that I am! I’m dog-friendly and learn quickly from my canine comrades. I’d love a home with a confident furry companion who’s ready to share in my reign.

I’m playful, curious, and a little bit of a goofball. My favorite activities include playing with doggy friends, solving puzzle games, and chewing on bones (dragon bones, not included). I’m also very affectionate - if cuddles were currency, I’d be the richest queen in Westeros!

I thrive on companionship, and though I have a touch of FOMO when left alone, I settle down with a doggie friend by my side. I’m house and leash trained, though I may need a little refining post-amputation. With my medium puppy energy and eagerness to learn, I’ll quickly win over your heart - and your house.

Older kids would be my ideal subjects, as I can sometimes be a bit klutzy and mouthy during playtime. Can you blame me? I am the mother of dragons! I’m not sure how I feel about cats, but hopefully we’d be pals. As long as I have another pooch to be my pal, I’ll be the happiest gal around.

If you’re ready to share your life with a queen who’s loyal, brave, and endlessly loving, I’m here to make your house my castle! If you’re still not convinced, check out my foster’s instagram @hi_im_new_here_tapfosters

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
