My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jake is being fostered in Shabonna IL

This gorgeous hunk is Jake.  Jake is a red tri with bright gold eyes.  He was born on May 6th, 2024 and came into rescue with 4 other littermates because the breeder couldn't sell them.  At 6 months old he is 38lbs. and is a standard Australian Shepherd.  We believe full grown he will be a typical male Aussie at 50-60lbs.  Jake is just a JOY his foster parents report.  He is playful and sweet with the other 4 legged foster siblings: both cats and dogs!

Jake is learning at rapids rates.  He is crate training, potty training and learning some foundational skills like sit, down, come, etc; all of which will need to be continued in his forever home.  Jake will need to stay on a consistent routine to continue to be successful.  Jake is silly, goofy, loves to play with all the other dogs in his foster home and would love a doggie playmate in his new home but it isn't necessary if someone will devote the time and training to to daily mental and physical exercise.

An Aussie needs a MINIMUM of 2 hours of exercise a day.  Jake will also need continued socialization with the world around him in various environments and stimuli.

Jake is neutered (rather will be on 12/5), microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm for any past or current pets must be provided to adopt from our rescue.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
