Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.
Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.
We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.
We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.
Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.
General Notes | Hi there, I'm Lucy! If you are currently trying to figure out who to invite to your upcoming holiday gatherings, may I offer, that I am an excellent +1!? Social situations and settings are my absolutely favorite! I play nicely with dogs of all sizes, have enough energy to keep the party going, and, when I wiggle my (adorable) dog bum and tail, it's infectious. Bonus - I'm always dressed to impress in my shiny black coat, so the only question I have for you is what are you waiting for!?
Personality | Everyone I meet keeps saying I'm 'such a lab'. And, to them I reply by splashing in some water and rushing to get my lead to go out and explore, because YES! I am spunky, fun-loving, and up for whatever you are. I love all new people I meet, and LOVE dogs. I have so much love to give that sometimes it feels like it's going to just burst out of me - so the zoomies often occur as a result of wanting to get it all out!
Story | Can we re-write my story together - starting with the gift of a home!? I was brought into a high-kill shelter in Texas as a stray and placed on the deadline list due to limited space. Now that I'm in Colorado, I'm so eager to explore everything and everywhere I can with my person/people by my side!
Other Dogs | I have done amazingly well when playing with dogs of all sizes, I must say. I read cues well, know how to respect others, and know when it's time to go lay down for a bit. If you're thinking to yourself this sounds advanced for my young age, you would be correct. I'm a bit of a 'play prodigy' if you will.
Cats | Unsure. No one has seen me interact with cats or smaller animals, unfortunately.
Children | Friendly!
Training | Lightning round of facts for you all to help make this section a bit easier to read. Am I a quick learner? YES. Am I (extremely) treat motivated! YES. Do I go into my crate as needed like a good girl? YES. Am I getting professionally trained by an amazing trainer at their facility south of Denver for the next couple of weeks (and will the trainer offer free access for my lifetime for any questions, needs, etc.)? YES! I'll be graduating from my training on December 19, so the good news is, you can just pick me up from the facility, swing us by Starbucks for a pup cup, then hit up whatever holiday soiree we'll be attending together! I'll be ready to go and will obvi be the best behaved one wherever we go!
Leash | I am so excited to greet everyone, dogs included, so am still learning how to walk nicely on a leash. I have the sweetest and happiest personality, so if or when something is holding me back from showing love or affection, it is very confusing to me. Just ask my vet about the cone she tried to place on me after my spay. Why anyone would want to hide a face this beautiful is beyond me, so naturally, I removed the obstacle. ;)
Activity Level | Medium-high. I am young (thank you for noticing) and require regular exercise, socialization, and training. Running and playing are some of my favorite hobbies, tug of war too, can't forget about that! I have a nose for water and loves to splash in puddles, because, who doesn't? I haven't yet tried this thing I keep hearing people talk about in Colorado, called hiking, but let me tell you I AM IN. Everything about it sounds amazing. Mountains or trails? Love. Exploring? Double love. Doing it with my very own family? All the love <3
Health Notes | I am one healthy girl! I am spayed, up to date on all vaccines and am heartworm NEGATIVE. I should note that I am at my peak health and performance level when cheese is regularly present in my diet. Was this confirmed by a vet or professional? No. But, doesn't everyone feel a little better with some cheese here and there!?
Thank you! |
Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).
Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.
Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.
We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
