Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Nala! She was found as a stray and taken to the Nogales/Santa Cruz County Shelter. When she was placed on the E-List in August, we were thrilled that one of our long time fosters was able to take her in. Nala is an older girl, and ended up needing a bit of medical attention, so we moved her up to another one of our longtime fosters in the Phoenix area for care with our vets up here. After several months, she is finally ready to meet potential adopters!
Nala takes her time warming up to a new environment, but now that she is getting healthy and is taking medication, her personality is really shining through. She is a sweet affectionate girl who loves to cuddle and is overall a low to medium energy dog, depending on the day. Nala is indifferent to the other larger dogs in her foster home, and will become playful if she has the energy. She does get fed separate from the other dogs in her foster home to eliminate resource guarding behavior. Nala is also still learning what the word’ no’ means, although she can be redirected and led away from a situation. Nala is a professional beggar and will help herself to your food if it looks tasty enough! These are all things that Nala and her foster are working and training on, but she will need continued reinforcement and patience from her future adopter in order to succeed!
A calm and quiet home would be great for Nala. She could do great as an only dog, or even with another mellow dog. The higher energy dogs in her foster home do capture her attention, and while she has not tried to harm them, we would not recommend a home with smaller dogs. For this reason, we would also recommend older children. If you are looking for a calm, sweet girl, Nala may be the one for you! There wasn’t much about her intake or medical history, so if I mis-told the story and need to change it, let me know!

Additional adoption info
We ensure that our huskies only go to families on a property with a 6ft secure fence, and remain the guardian of the animal for life - if there is ever need for a family to rehome their husky again due to health or any other major concern, we are always willing to take the dog back and find them a new home.

We do not have a physical shelter location just yet, and operate solely out of foster homes. We are planning to begin participating in adoption events in the near future - these will be listed on our website once available!
