My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Lucy is an estimated 1 to 2 year old, 55 lb (now) spayed female mixed breed -- possibly lab with herding breed -- who joined DGS on 11/17. She was a stray intake at Tulsa Animal Control, and was evaluated to be friendly with people and dogs at the shelter. In temporary foster care awaiting transport, she has shown herself to be pretty low energy for her suspected breed mix, and sweet and attention seeking with humans; she's also not aggressive to cats. We will share more information as we get to know her in foster care.

Foster Update: Lucy is a sweet gal who needs a calm and confident owner to show her that life is Good! She is pretty mellow and doesn't seem to need a ton of exercise, as her favorite thing to do is lay on the couch with her foster family! She enjoys pets and affection but is not pushy about receiving love. She is currently on a gentle leader and is working on her leash manners. She does get nervous when walking by yards with dogs on the other side of a fence and we are helping her work through that anxiety. Lucy is very food motivated, so that certainly helps in her training. She likes to chase balls and would probably make a great fetcher. She loves chew toys and is crate trained. she has been fine with the dogs that she has met so far including an older, cranky gal. She might do really well with a confident dog in her new home that could show her the ropes and let her know that it's all good. A family with kindness and patience and lots of love would be terrific!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
