Hi, I’m Karis! I’m a sweet and affectionate girl searching for a loving family to call my own. I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, my playful and curious personality shines through. I’m an explorer at heart and love taking in my surroundings—my foster mom even calls me “Billy Goat” because I enjoy hopping onto higher surfaces to get a better view!
When I’m not exploring, you’ll find me happily playing with my toys, bouncing around like a bunny. I’m also a champion snuggler who loves giving the gentlest kisses and curling up close for cuddle time. My foster mom says I’m a smart and determined girl who’s already making progress with housetraining.
Since I’m still learning to feel confident, I’d do best in a calm, steady home with patient and loving people who can offer gentle guidance. With their support, I know I’ll continue to blossom into a happy, outgoing pup.

Karis is estimated to be 8 months old and 18 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
