My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please check here for updated adoption hours.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.

Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

Opie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

My foster writes: Opie is a chill guy looking for a permanent home. He likes to hang out with you and be in your company, but accepts pets on his own terms. He's a nosy lil bugger who is open to guests and likes to explore. I can see him being one of those cats who is leashed and explores the city.

A volunteer writes: Let me start by saying that I love it when cats don't lay all their cards out on the table because it gives me the chance to get to know them where they are. Opie was lying on top of his cubby when I visited. He didn't seem completely sold on the idea of having visitors, which I get because I'm kind of like that too, but then Opie rolled over to show me his little belly. I offered him my hand to sniff and he gently nuzzled in response because apparently head scritches are irresistible and also it's kind of hard to make new friends, so we have to take our opportunities where we can. Opie didn't try to get up to say hello, nor did he begin purring, only leaning into my hand like a cat with a job to do. Opie's the type of fellow who really enjoys making new friends on his own time, but time with Opie is always well spent.
