My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marcie is about 12 weeks old and currently weighs about 3 pounds, with an expected adult size of about 7 pounds. Extremely tiny and fragile. Her coat looks Havanese, straight white with some black spots, long and soft. She was matted and has been shaved down, but it is growing in nicely. She will be absolutely gorgeous when her hair grows out. She is adorable!

Marcie is sight-impaired at the moment. Both eyes cloudy, but one eye is clearer than the other. She has some vision, and the veterinary ophthalmologist feels she will regain clearer vision when the inflammation and excess fluid goes away. She's just a baby and is very dependent on her human. She is most comfortable and relaxed when being held but will stay in her crate without complaining. She uses potty pads currently in a large, corralled area which is attached to a large, covered crate with bedding. We also take her out to potty regularly so she can learn to potty outside, but she is a puppy, and a bit young yet to expect potty training success. We have a heated pad we turn on at night to keep her warm. She is so fragile and, without any hair currently, she gets cold easily. We put t-shirts on her to keep her warm, but she seems to slither out of them because she is so small.

Because of her size she could be fearful of big dogs, which is pretty much all of them, however so far she hasn't met one she couldn't handle. She is playing nicely with another puppy here at the moment. She has not been tested around cats. Marcie will require focused attention in her new home since she is a baby and so fragile. She may be problematic for seniors as she tends to go towards their feet to be picked up and, since she is so tiny and vision-impaired, she could be stepped on or tripped over. For these reasons, we also do not recommend a home with young children.

Marcie is not yet spayed, and her adopter will be contractually responsible for her spay when she is old enough. Only applicants within driving distance from Roseville will be considered due to her ongoing vet appointments for her eyes.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Marcie, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website; www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.
