Derek is a handsome one-year old male (possible) Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix who was found on State Route 555 in the Cutler Ohio area and brought to the HSOV on November 17, 2024. Derek was accompanied by his beautiful companion (Meredith). Neither of these youngsters were wearing a collar nor were they microchipped. Derek and Meredith had distinctive indentations on the fur around their necks which would suggest that they had been wearing collars .. So perhaps both of them slipped their collars and went on an adventure~
Derek has a chocolate/brown short smooth coat with a white bib on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with amber-colored eyes, a liver-colored nose, a patch of white on his muzzle, and large semi-erect ears.
Derek had a friendly, dynamic personality when HSOV Volunteers Emma Dahlgren and Carolyn Blanchard teamed up to take Derek and Meredith for a simultaneous photo session late in the afternoon on November 17, 2024. Derek was full of youthful energy and was mesmerized with other dogs that he saw being walked in the distance by other volunteers.
Derek weighs 37 lbs. He is rather strong and doesn't appear to have been accustomed to walking on a leash.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Derek will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
