My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dexter says hi!! 👋 OFR rescued him from a crowded shelter and now he's looking for his perfect forever home! 💙 He is around a year old and 57 lbs.
Dexter is housebroken and working on his crate training. He's learning it's his safe place and we know he will get this! 💪
He walks well on a leash, stays next to his foster. He's a little skittish of cars and the noise they make.
Dexter is a happy and relaxed pup! 🥰 Pretty chill overall. He might walk off with a shoe 👞 if it's there (typical puppy🤭) 🫣 but with proper redirection, he’ll get the hang of it in no time!😉 He is a snuggler on the couch and seems to enjoy his ears being pet. 🤗
Some things to know about Dexter...he does have some scarring from past trauma. 😥 He will need some time to warm up to new people. He's got a whole big world 🌎 to learn about. And now the BEST part, Dexter LOVES 😍 squeaky toys! His foster says he plays and squeaks them and it's the MOST adorable thing! 💙🥰
Dexter is dog, cat and kid friendly. He'll do well in a home with a fenced-in yard, but that's not required. He will also do well with someone that will take him for walks.
Dexter is ready to meet you and start making memories! Please apply below.

Additional adoption info

Each pet that is available for adoption is in a foster home for a minimum of 2 weeks after being rescued. This allows the animal to decompress and show their true personality, which in turn helps us find their best match.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Visit https://operationfreedomride.com/ and click "available pets" to see who is available for adoption.

Periodically we have adoption events around the greater Rochester, NY area; however, we largely rely on the application process to best match people/families with available pets and then set-up a meet and greet to make sure it's a great match before finalizing the adoption.
