My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch date: Unsure of Blue, but Girls are approx 3.5 years old

This happy trio of parakeets came to our rescue from a loving  home that gave them a wonderful life.
Unfortunately, a very severe parakeet allergy is what led them to  have to surrender the three.

Wendy was the first parakeet the former owners got, and she has some of the most unique and beautiful sage green coloring on her that her foster family has ever seen. The pictures don't do justice to how beautiful she is.  She was hand-tamed by a family member for a time, but then her primary caretaker went away to school and she stopped being handled quite as much.

The family got Bianca to keep her company.  Bianca is the other green/yellow parakeet in the group.

Blue, the boy of the group, was found in 2021 Wissahickon park by chance and brought home to join the other two.  We are unsure of his age.

They have not had any egg-laying, despite some mating behavior between Blue and Wendy, but Blue and Bianca seem to get along and spend more time together at their foster home.
These birds have had a healthy diet of pellets and chop for years.  They also have had free flight time with their former owners and with their foster family.

Blue and Bianca are eager to step up for Millet, but Wendy is  a bit more shy about hands.
This happy little flock is disease-tested and ready to find their forever home.

Bianca, Wendy, & Blue are being fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ.  For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes  throughout NJ and Eastern PA.    As our adoptable birds live in volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
We do not ship our adoptable birds.

If interested in adopting the budgies, please visit our website  ftlob.rescuegroups.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
