My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peggy is fostered in Plymouth, MI

Meet Peggy – Your New Best Friend!  Peggy is a sweet and affectionate 18-month-old Mini Australian Shepherd weighing in at 30 pounds. With her loving personality, she’s a true Velcro dog who thrives when she is by your side. Peggy is extremely people-oriented and will shower you with loyalty and affection.

Peggy and her sibling come into rescue when they were purchased from a breeder.  Littermate syndrome is a real thing, and making it doubly bad, they had little to no manners.  It was critical that both her and her sibling be separated.  In their foster homes, they have thrived and learned some basic commands, manners, and are doing very well.

Peggy is potty trained and crate trained.  She sleeps soundly in her crate (as long as she can see you nearby), and is ready to bring joy to a family or individual looking for a devoted companion. Peggy is also still working on her dog obedience, but with her sharp mind and quick learning, she’s making great progress! She’s looking for a family or individual who is eager to spend time training her and continue helping her thrive.  While she’s friendly and loves attention, we do feel Peggy would do best as the only dog in her home as she tends to get jealous of other pets vying for your love and this has a lot to do with the first 1.5 of her life.

If you're seeking a dog who will follow you everywhere and be your ultimate shadow, Peggy just might be the perfect match!  She is a typial aussie that will require a committed, active adopter who will provide 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.

Peggy is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworms for prior and current pets is required to adopt from our rescue.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
