Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello, my name is Lucy. I love going for walks, playing with my foster brother, and running around the backyard. I also like cuddles on the couch with my humans. When people are sad and anxious, I like to put my head on their lap and let them know everything is going to be okay. I’m a very good girl and I try to avoid jumping on people.
Something I don’t like is being left alone at home. It makes me nervous, and I tend to find stuff to tear up to help with my anxiety. My foster parents don’t know my whole background, but they have a few guesses as to what happened to me by some of my behavior. Like I’m more afraid of women then men. When women raise their voice, I tend to cower. I get scared of rainstorms and thunderstorms, and I don’t like to go outside when it is raining. Loud sudden noises make me jump, and I want to hide or cuddle with someone.
I am now crate trained, and for a small treat I'm fine to go into my crate and settle down. I also sleep in my crate at night. It’s actually pretty comfortable since my foster mom put thick blankets and pillows in there for me. When my foster parents have to leave me at home, they put me in my crate. It helps with my anxiety and keeps the stuffed animals and books safe.
I am really hoping to find my furever family. I’m good with cats and kittens and I’m also good with other dogs, although sometimes I forget that the senior dog can’t play like the rest of us. I’m also good with people I don’t know and kids I don’t know too. It would be great if I could find a family that could use an emotional support animal. I promise I will always be there for you with cuddles and love. Hope to meet you soon!
Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.
Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner’s White Oak Shopping Center. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application.
Thanks for thinking adoption!

CATS and KITTENS: Our adoptable cats & kittens are at the Luv-A-Pet Centers at PetSmart, White Oak in Garner and in PetSmart Goldsboro).
Cats can be seen during regular store hours by asking a manager or by appointment with JCAPL. On Saturdays between 10am and 2pm, JCAPL volunteers bring additional cats and kittens to the Luv-A-Pet Center at the Garner location.
We do rotate our cats and kittens regularly so if you see a cat or kitten online, but do not see them at Petsmart, they are most likely taking a break at their foster home. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions about the adoption status of a specific cat or kitten.
DOGS and PUPPIES can be seen at the PetSmart at White Oak Shopping Center from 11:00 am until 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, or by appointment with individual foster homes.

More about this rescue
We are the Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL). We are a 501 (c)(3) non profit, founded in 2001.
Our primary function and purpose is animal advocacy and to promote animal welfare, in all its aspects.
We do rescue and adoptions, outreach (providing low cost spay/neuter); and education.
We are unpaid volunteers, but we continue to try and fill the void wherever we see the need, and we do it because the need is great and the animals are innocent in all the crimes and abuses against them.
