Tanker
Boston Terrier
2 years 1 month, Male, Small
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Tanker
BREED: Boston Terrier
AGE: 2 years old (DOB Oct 2, 2022)
Medical: Tanker has a grade 3 heart murmur and will require daily medication to manage this and ensure he is comfortable throughout his life.
Home Recommendation: Tanker is looking for a home that will work on building his confidence and give him the time he needs to come out of his shell. He is such a wonderful, deserving dog who is ready to shine! He just needs some extra love and patience.
Personality: After spending his whole life in a cage, he is looking for a loving home that will teach him that the world is a good place. He is slowly learning the good things to being a dog. He loves relaxing on the couch with you and hanging out with his doggy foster sibling. Once he becomes more comfortable, he will begin to explore more and his goofy side will slowly come out.
KIDS: Since Tanker would do well in a quiet home, above the age of 10+
DOGS: Yes! He does great with all dogs.
CATS: Unknown
TRAINING: Tanker is working on his house training. He sleeps in his crate during the night. He is still getting the hang of walking on a leash but will get there with practice.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Tanker were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
