Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Pecan Brittle (aka Piper)! 🐾
This sweet and confident 5-month-old girl is ready to find her forever family! Weighing 25 pounds, with long legs and floppy ears, Piper is a charming bundle of energy and love. Her foster family has been calling her Piper, but she also answers to Pecan Brittle—and she’s as sweet as her name suggests!
Piper adores wrestling with her foster brother and would thrive in a home with other playful dog friends or a high-energy family to keep her busy. At the end of a fun-filled day, she’s all about snuggling up on the couch for some quality cuddle time. You might even catch her dreaming—she’s a heavy sleeper with active dreams that’ll make you smile!
Though she hasn’t been around children yet, Piper’s friendly demeanor suggests she’d be great with kids. She’s a pro at settling in her crate, whether for car rides or quiet time, and she’s making amazing progress with potty training.
Outdoors, Piper’s playful spirit shines as she chases leaves and proudly carries sticks on walks. She’s working on leash skills and already mastering commands like “sit.” With her eagerness to please and sharp mind, she’s sure to pick up more tricks in no time.
Piper is looking for an active, loving family who will give her the care, training, and companionship she craves. Could that be you? Don’t wait—Piper is ready to fill your life with love and laughter!

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
