My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

Janie was hunched at the back of the kennel, appearing fearful and ignored treats and refused to smell them. She allowed all petting while remaining weary and somewhat fearful, and when upper pressure was applied on the abdomen, she made as if to flea. She did not warm up during the interaction, but remained in place and reasonably tolerant. She should be given a small room in her new home in which to acclimate and may need additional socialization.

Janie interacts with the observer, accepts attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in under socialized and fearful kitten behavior. Exactly how under socialized she is (if she is even under socialized) isn't clearly known as she is showing behaviors that are also consistent with being simply fearful, and she hasn't been with us long enough to make this clear. Having said that, if she is at least somewhat under socialized given her age (7 months) she may resist further socialization.
