My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jamie's update:
Little Jamie has made big progress. If you meet her for the first time, you would not think so as the babe is still quite shy... But we know...and love her for the steps forward she has taken lately. I do not have to chase Jamie anymore when I want to treat her or pet her. She stays nicely on her shelf, leans under my petting, purrs and blinks. No more running away...(see her new video)I even took her in my arms. Jamie needs now a patient owner who likes and understands shy kitties and wants to give her the chance to be a most thriving and loving forever best friend. Believe in Jamie like we all do here at the care center and offer her a safe and loving home.

During the assessment Janie flinched and was avoidant of petting at first and is wary of interactions with humans. She would benefit from extra socialization. We recommend that this cat go to a home with cat parents who are preferably familiar with kitten socialization AND are open to detailed counseling by staff. Contact with young children should be avoided or done under strict supervision to prevent provoking a fear response, further delaying socialization.

A volunteer writes: Janie the kitten was found on her own in a parking lot. Though she appeared injured, she wasn't entirely helpful to the Park Rangers trying to assist her. Janie hopped this way and that until she finally conceded that perhaps the Care Center would be better. Considering that she's become one of our most dedicated treat connoisseurs, I'd say she was right. Also, the shelter brings her just that much closer to meeting her forever family. Janie loves treats and this seems to be the way to her heart and the easiest way to convince her to spend time with me. She hasn't been the biggest fan of pets and tends to shy away from my outstretched arm unless I have a squeeze up, but she's learning. As a young kitten, Janie is hoping to find a family with a lot of patience who can help her find her way as she grows.
