My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kai is a handsome young sheltie just waiting for his forever family to make him a part of their home
and lives. He would be okay as an only dog; but he has loved playing, chasing and wrestling with the
resident dog. The added bonus is that he uses up some of his normal, young energy. So, a canine
sibling might be ideal. With known people, he loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. When meeting
new people, he warms up quickly to women. He is a little shy and takes more time to warm up to men
but treats and being petted will win him over. Did we say treats? Kai loves his treats and is happy to
show you he knows how to Sit, Lay down and Come. Kai walks on a leash and is working on some
leash manners when he meets other people and dogs. His foster says he is a happy dog, a little nervous
at times, but his life has changed a lot in the last few weeks. All in all, he is eager to please; and he will
quickly worm his way into your home and family.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
