My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Duke, a 6-month-old hound mix with a heart as big as my floppy ears. I might be a little shy at first, but give me some time, and you'll see my sweet, loyal side shine through. I'm a total Velcro pup-I love sticking close to my humans for comfort and cuddles.

I really come alive around other dogs! Having some furry friends around helps me feel more confident, so I'd love a home with doggy companions. I'm even cool with cats-no fuss from me! With patience, love, and the right company, I promise to come out of my shell and be the best buddy you've ever had. Could you be my safe place? Come meet me and let's start our journey together!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
