My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet one of our newest boys, Banana Bread!

From the same home as our other sweet "breakfast-treat" cats, Banana Bread came to us recently when his guardian just had more animals than they could care for. This handsome Siamese is inquisitive and sweet, and we feel that once he settles into a new space he will be the chatty Siamese he's always meant to be!

It takes Banana Bread a moment to get comfortable with new people and in new settings, but after very little time his curious side starts to show. He has lived with other cats in the past, and would likely do well with a slow introduction to another feline friendly cat at home. We do know that he has no experience around dogs at this point. He came from a home where he was strictly indoor only, and would like to continue watching the world go by through a big window.

We feel that once he has come out of his shell a bit, Banana Bread is going to be a playful guy who loves to check every little new thing out. Because he can be a bit nervous at first, we feel an adult home OR one with older cat savy children would be most appropriate for this handsome boy.

Banana Bread is set to be neutered on November 20th in North Vancouver (costs covered by the SPCA!). He would love to find a home before then, that is able to take him to and from this one-time appointment. Come in and meet Banana Bread between 12pm-3pm daily (except Mondays) OR apply online!

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
