Come meet Janet and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 24th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!
Name: JanetBest Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of October 2024SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 37 lbs as of 11/14/24; needs to drop a bit.
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested if you have them. Janet currently lives with children in foster care (10yo and 15yo) and does well with them.
Currently Living at:DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: When Janet arrived from the shelter, she was pretty reserved in the hustle and bustle of city life. She has been making great strides in foster care! We think Janet would do best in a home that either has a resident dog or who can make sure Janet has lots of opportunities to go on walks regularly with other dogs or visit dog parks and/or doggie daycare with other dogs to build confidence.
Janet is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie with the utterly adorable short, stubby legs has all that young-dog energy and is eager to get her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and lots of adventures. Making pup pals along the way is on her wish list too, along with getting to go to dog school so she can show how super smart she is.
But she's taking the long view here - what she really wants is to know she's safe and loved and under her roof for all her days. Always knowing where she belongs, who her people are. She has so much to give in exchange. Adoring gazes, tail wags, that steady, loyal companionship.

What My Foster Says About Me: Janet is a sweet, shy girl who does well with other dogs and kids. She is easygoing, does well in her crate, and will lay by your side while you are working, reading, or watching TV. She loves running in the backyard and walks around the neighborhood. She will greet you with a wagging tail and kisses, and she is warming up to belly rubs and snuggles.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
