Have you ever had S’mores?  Well we have too!  Our Smores is absolutely the sweetest treat you could have!

Smores is young at approximately 18 months and weighs 11 lbs.  He is calm and quiet most of the time. Smores seems to have came to his foster already house trained and knows the meaning of “no”.  Smores is crate savvy and sleeps in his crate during the night. He does have a playful attitude and plays with toys. He absolutely loves attention. You could easily become a very devoted little fellow to new adopters.

Smores was a true stray. A Good Samaritan managed to gain his trust. She reported he got along with her cat.  He is shy at first with new folks but is thriving in foster care. He is enjoying having other dogs to play with.

When his foster picked Smores up he went with her to pick up her grandson who is 11. During the hour long car ride Smores didn’t have a word to say until the grandson got in the car.  He was so excited and made joyful sounds to have a kid in the car.  Also, his foster has observed that when there are children in commercials on TV Smores watches, especially one commercial, where a little girl says the word “Puppy” in a happy voice. Smores has shown a tendency to form quick loving bonds with everyone in the home, but may choose one special person to love and protect.  The foster home believes he would be a great companion to almost any home setting, but will especially make a good all-around family dog enjoying having kids.

More about this rescue

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is an all volunteer group in the heart of Texas that is dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of our dachshund friends. We are based in San Antonio, Texas but we have fosters/volunteers in Austin, San Angelo and DFW areas. We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. As such, we must rely heavily on donations and contributions to be able to pay the costs of health care, administrative needs, and other necessary expenses for each of our dachshunds. Diamond Dachshund has rescued, rehabilitated and placed approximately one hundred dachshunds each year since our incorporation in 1998. That's a lot of happy, healthy dogs and equally happy families! We strive to find the right home for each dog's individual personality and needs, so that the placement is permanent and both the dogs and the humans who adopt them, are equally happy.
