Mowgli is an adorable 8-year-old orange tabby with a heart as big as his purr! This sweet and affectionate boy is a true cuddle bug who loves nothing more than curling up with his humans and purring the day away. Despite being partially blind and FIV positive, Mowgli is full of love, energy, and joy. He's a vocal guy who will happily chat with you about his day, especially if you're nearby to give him some extra attention.
Mowgli is a mellow and affectionate cat who loves to snuggle. Whether he's lounging in a cozy spot or nestling into your lap, his purring never stops. He's incredibly gentle and would thrive in a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe and cherished. Though he's partially blind, Mowgli navigates his surroundings with ease, relying on his sharp sense of smell and hearing to keep him confident and comfortable.
Mowgli is FIV positive, which means he requires a little extra care, but with the right medical support, he's able to live a long, happy life. He'd do best in a home where he can with other cat-friendly companions, as FIV can sometimes be transmitted through bite wounds to other cats, though he's not aggressive and done well with other cats.
This vocal boy will fill your home with love and joy-if you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, and purring companion, Mowgli might just be your perfect match!

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.
Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
