In September 2022, my partner and I adopted a three-month-old puppy from the SPCA in Charlottesville, Virginia. Initially shy and anxious, Albus was listed as a Labrador, but a DNA test revealed he was a mix: 53% Australian Cattle dog, 19% Australian Shepherd, 17% Rottweiler, and 10% American Bulldog.
Albus (now almost 2.5 years old) is a sweet, fun, and challenging dog. He is challenging due to his reactivity around strangers, which has improved greatly over the last year. We love Albus, and wish we did not have to rehome him - but we need to relocate for career purposes, and would also like to start a family. Having a baby, and managing a challenging dog is more than we feel we can handle.
Albus would be a perfect companion in a home where he has space to run and play fetch, with no young children, and an experienced dog owner who can continue to train him. Because he can be reactive to strangers, a home that does not have lots of new people coming by would be more ideal.
