My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is a sweet, gentle kitten with a heart of gold. At 9 weeks old, he's still a little shy when meeting new people, but with a bit of patience and love, he quickly warms up and shows his affectionate side. Bear is a playful little guy who loves to explore, but he may need a little time to adjust to his new home. He'd do best in a household with a friendly, confident cat who can help him gain confidence and show him the ropes. Once Bear feels comfortable, he's sure to be a fun and loving companion, joining in on playtime and snuggling up for quiet moments. If you're looking to add a sweet, gentle kitten to your family and already have a social cat, Bear could be the perfect fit!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
