My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hakina is looking for a patient guardian that can help her overcome her nerves and feel more comfortable with herself.
She was brought to us as a single, stray kitten and she was very scared of all of the "new" around her.
She is currently in a foster home, and is loving the other cats, and doesn't seem bothered by the dogs at all.
Going to a home with another cat would be highly beneficial in letting her come out of her shell and following the lead of a confident cat.

Hakina is still working on trusting people, and will need time to settle in but should come around with the help of another feline friend! She is not interested in being cuddled or held at the moment, and will let you know when you've pushed her boundaries.
Due to her nervous nature, she will do best as an indoor only cat.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application online.
She is currently in a foster home and is available for viewing by appointment only.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
