My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

RHEA was saved on 21st September from southern Maine heavily pregnant and the night we got her to the rescue was the night she gave birth to 8 previous puppies. She is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine.

She has been a great mama to the pups and is scheduled to be spayed, get her rabies and heartworm/tick test on 25th November after which she will be ready to go to start her new life with her wonderful family.

Rhea is incredibly sweet girl and is just desperate for love and attention to the point where she can be a bit over-bearing and needy, however, I am sure when she is with her own family and has settled in and understands that she will now be getting all the love she will ever need, she will get a lot better. She does cower a lot so I am not sure if she has been subjected to any abuse but other than that she is extremely affectionate.

She has been great with other dogs and lives in a communal setting and has been with both males and females. She does get a little jealous if the other dog is getting attention, but she is learning to understand that sharing is good. She likes to hoard all toys and of course loves things with squeaks.

We do not know anything about this sweet girls history and so we just want to start her new future with an amazing family who can give her a loving, active, life full of adventure, great food, toys and treats.

We do not know how she is with cats or other creatures, and although she has not been around small children, other than he wanting to be the center of attention, and wanting love I have no concerns as long as the children are respectful to her.

We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.      She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life.

RHEA has an adoption fee of $550

Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend.

Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.

More about this rescue

Founded by Jenny an English woman who found her way to Texas on 14th February 2011 in San Antonio, Texas we saved dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas.

In July 2015, Jenny relocated herself and the rescue to the beautiful state of Maine, it's weather and people much like that of her home in Northern England.

We still save dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas where dogs have just 3 days to be saved. We vet them, they have veterinary examination and are issued with health certificates and then transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
