My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Chuck and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m a mellow, laid-back 9-year-old dude being fostered in Smithville, MO. I’m old enough to take things in stride and still young enough to have fun! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility where I helped make puppies. I’m still getting used to things here, but I’m embracing “retirement.” I am a healthy 23-lb boy – neutered and vaccinated. My favorite thing to do here is going for walks! Being outside used to scare me, but now I love it! Foster mom says I’m well-behaved on leash and don’t pull. I get along fine with other dogs, but I’m usually content to hang by myself. I haven’t lived with cats or other pets, but I don’t try to chase the critters I see outside. I’m a good boy inside too! I usually just chill in my bed and I’m not destructive at all. Sometimes I explore the house and gather up the toys and treasures left on the floor and bring them to my bed. Recently, foster mom found me cuddling with a roll of toilet paper. She thought that was hilarious. Hey. it was nice and soft! I have a good appetite and sometimes make impatient little chirps and grunts when it’s time to eat and it’s taking too long! Foster mom keeps me on a regular potty break schedule so I don’t have accidents in the house. I’ve gotten used to the human kids here in my foster home. I like it when the 8-yo gives me pets! My perfect forever family would like to go for walks with me or have a securely fenced yard where I can play. I’d love a nice, soft bed inside where I can snooze. I’d love a family who will be patient and understanding with me if I’m shy and skittish at first. If you live in the Midwest and want a relaxed, mature, well-behaved boy to be your bff, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn about you and your home to make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster home so we can meet. I’d love that!
