My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To support her new family, Bella will receive a complementary Reactive Rover training class.

Age: 3 years old
Weight: 23.8kg / 52.5lb

A little bit about Bella :
- History of living with young children. Potential for home with children. All interactions should be carefully supervised by an adult.
- No cats in home due to previous poor interactions and high prey drive.
- Mixed history with other dogs. Has lived with another dog. Leash reactivity noted and likely dog selective. Potential for home with select other dog pending successful D2D.

Meet Bella, a sweet and energetic pitbull who’s ready to find her forever home! Bella arrived at the shelter through no fault of her own and has previously lived in a home with young children, making her a great potential fit for a family.

Bella’s favorite things include treats and playtime—she’s highly treat-motivated, which makes her an excellent learner for training. While she’s more of a playful companion than a cuddler, her big heart and enthusiasm for fun will win you over in no time.

She’s best suited to a home without cats due to her prey drive and can get along with some dogs, though leash introductions can be tricky as she has shown some reactivity. Our amazing adoptions and behavior teams are here to help guide you with positive reinforcement training to boost Bella’s confidence on walks.

With her loving spirit and playful energy, Bella is ready to become your new best friend!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
