Up to date on vaccines: Gyoza is still receiving her core puppy vaccine series and will need one additional vaccine after adoption to reach full immunization
Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized

Housebroken: Working on it! With a strict schedule and routine, she will catch on in no time
Crate trained: Doing well overall, after taking a short time to settle. She has been left alone for 2-3 hours during the day in her crate, so far.
Leash walking: Working on it! She is not yet super confident on leash so will need to keep working on this with positive reinforcement
Dog social: Yes! She lives with resident dogs in her foster home and has been doing well with them.
Cat social: Unknown
Kid friendly: She lives with two 12-year-old kids in her foster home and has been great with them.
Gyoza has no known medical needs beyond routine wellness care
Gyoza likes:
- Playing hide and seek
- Chewing on her bones and stuffed toys
- Cuddling!
Gyoza is a curious and affectionate pup who loves to snuggle. When she's nervous and you pick her up, she will put her paws around your neck and hide her face in your neck or under your hair like a hug. When she yawns really big, she makes an adorable "rawr" noise. She likes to trot around the house after you, but also will wander off and find something to do (often nap) by herself. She is working to master the basics and build up her confidence, and will do best with an adopter who is ready for all the stages that puppyhood and being an adolescent brings.
OTAT requires that all dogs 6 months and under be enrolled in a positive reinforcement training program within 2 weeks of their adoption at their adopter's expense.
Gyoza's adoption fee is $350, and this sweet girl is excited to cuddle up with her forever human!

Our Adoption Center has adoptable dogs. Adoptable cats and bunnies live in foster homes. We work on a first come basis. We are limiting the amount of visitors on site, so you may be asked to be added to the waitlist when you arrive. We require all family members of the household (including any resident dogs with current vaccination records) to be present at the introduction. We recommend being prepared to adopt same-day as the dogs at our Adoption Center are available for direct adoption and we do not “hold” them for specific applicants.

More about this rescue
One Tail at a Time (OTAT) started as a backup plan for dogs that were not getting adopted or rescued by other groups in the area shelters. Over the years we have experienced consistent and steady growth: we are among the top transfer partners for dogs at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) and for cats at several open intake shelters in Indiana, we have a robust transport program in which dogs are rescued from high-kill shelters in southern states, and we are even able to pull dogs from a rescue partner in Tulum, Mexico to help them get adopted in the Chicagoland area. Our growth has been, and continues to be, due to the overwhelming support received from our community.
Members enable us to take on complex medical cases and continue to grow our annual intake numbers. Volunteers have continued to line up to foster and care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, to take on leadership roles, and to help build One Tail at a Time into a well-known and respected rescue organization in Chicago and beyond.
Due to our continuous growth and immensely supportive community of members, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and more, we have evolved into the One Tail at a Time Cooperative!
