Meet the one and only Shiva, a beautiful German Shepherd mix with a sensitive soul and a heart full of potential. Due to limited socialization in the past, Shiva can be a little shy at first, but with the right, patient, and understanding owner, she’s sure to thrive. She needs someone who will gently introduce her to new people, places, and experiences, helping her build confidence at her own pace.
Shiva is naturally relaxed and chill, but she truly shines when she’s around other dogs. She does best with male dogs and more submissive females, and once she feels comfortable, her playful side emerges.
Shiva should do well in a home with children of all ages.
We are not sure how Shiva would do in a home with cat friends.
Shiva will benefit most in a household with a male dog.
Shiva is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and weighing 62 lbs.
Shiva has recently gone on Doggy Day Outs with one of our wonderful volunteers. She was very nervous, but warmed up and did well. She has been described as sweet, friendly, nervous, curious and very smart.
Here is what our volunteers have to say about her:
"Shiva did pretty good being out. She is very nervous and not sure of the outdoors, not sure of what to think of it all. Shiva is very sweet and loves car rides."
"Shiva did a lot better being out today. She spent time back at my house napping on our couch and found comfort with me being next to her. After that she was so much more comfortable with me, not so nervous or anxious.
Shiva is such a sweet, loving pup and we definitely got to know more of each other today. She is a very brave little gal."
"Shiva made huge progress being out! We spent time at my house on our deck and she was lying down soaking up the sun! We were at the house for two hours getting to know each other and letting Shiva feel comfortable. Then she was on a long line at a local park where she was much more relaxed and confident, tail not tucked between legs but out and relaxed.
Did great leash walking by side, calm and confident with tail relaxed. Shiva is fun taking out and making huge progress in being calm, relaxed and confident."
"Shiva is progressing very nicely on our Doggy Day Outs! She ate all of her breakfast at my house out on our deck. She was hungry!
Shiva is gaining more confidence, being comfortable around me and humans and remaining calm and relaxed. She is a happy gal! I am very pleased with her progressing each time she is out. With me being her pack leader and remaining calm and confident around Shive, she is that way as well. Dogs pick up on human energy real quick. Love this gal and how far she has come."
"Shiva has come so far in being calm, confident and trusting her human and people. So happy with her progress! And she is so much fun to have out!
Shiva does great on walks and has improved so much leash walking at the side. She loves car rides and will just lie down or loves the windows rolled down a bit. Rides seem to be her safe place. I love this gal and know that she will do very well in her adoptive home."
If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who just needs a little encouragement to come out of her shell, Shiva is your girl!
