My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everybodyyyy! I'm Poppy (Peque or 'little' in Mexico!) and here's some more about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Labrador/Terrier mix

  • Age: 6.5 months approx.

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 18lbs (8 kg)

  • Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico

RESCUE STORY - Like many other pups, I used to have a family! But one day, when I was two months old, they left me to fend for myself outside of an animal hospital...I can't imagine why since I'm SUCH a sweet, good, loving (and cute!) girl. It's possible that my colour worked against me as a black dog. But I mean, we're supposed to be companions to witches - how cool is that! Nevertheless, with nothing less than a miracle (or magic), I landed on my feet. The animal hospital called my super-human, absolute angel of a rescuer who took me into her care and has given me some much-needed TLC. I'm now ready to be the awesome, loving companion of your dreams!

TEMPERAMENT - Like magic, I can calm a room down with just my essence. I am superrrr docile, sweet and passive. I can be a little shy and nervous when I'm in unusual surroundings but very, very relaxed and quiet at home. I get along with everyone (all sorts of dogs, kids!) and love playing with bottle caps, plastic bottles and balls! I am a super playful pup who is also very obedient and would be a trainer's dream come true.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yes! Peep my video.

  • Dogs – I get along well with other pups and currently live with many other doggos at my foster's house!

  • Cats – Unknown but can be tested upon request

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – I do okay with my leash skills as you can see in my video, however I may need some additional patience and training.

  • House trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

  • Crate trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

  • Car rides – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed and vaccinated.

  • NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
